GP3 Series came to life this weekend but it was a testing debut for Dutch driver Renger van der Zande after qualifying 9th in his RSC Mucke Motorsport car.

Race 1, lap 1 was full of drama for Renger as he narrowly missed a spinning car just as the green lights went out.  He lost 6 places as he was forced on to the grass to avoid the chaos.  Despite several laps of closing the gap, he eventually finished disappointed and frustrated in 15th place.

Just 15 hours and a good night sleep later, Race 2 was underway! It was always going to be a tricky 16 laps starting from 15th but more drama at the start meant several laps under the safety car and a subdued start to the race.
When the real racing got underway Renger wasted no time in working his way up to 12th but a drive through penalty for  accidently hitting into another car, dropped him down to 24th with just two laps to go.

“The speed is there but we need some luck too. Friday was great finishing P1 in practice but sadly that is where the good results finished. I cannot wait to get to Turkey and try and get some points, podiums and wins!” said Renger.
