Motopark Academy very pleased with Renger van der Zande

At the Oschersleben circuit, Renger van der Zande did exactly what he was brought to Germany for. With absolutely no preparation, the Mercedes Junior was able to considerably improve the Motopark Academy team car. Although the difference with the leaders in training was almost a second, this was reduced to half a second during qualifying. And according to Renger, there is still room for improvement.

In England, they already know that Renger is able to set up a car and that was exactly the reason why the Motopark team boss, Timo Rumpfkeil, invited him to drive for the team. During practice, he was still getting used to the car, but during qualifying, it quickly became clear that Renger’s presence had brought immediate results. The team was very impressed with his eighth place on the starting grid, way in front of Zanella, the regular Motopark driver.

Renger also looks back with satisfaction at his first appearance in the Formula 3 Euroseries since last year. “After just a couple of laps, I knew what had to be changed on the car and during training and qualification, things just kept getting better”, said Renger. “We saw a constant improvement, but I can also see that we can do even better. I can definitely improve this car’s time and this is what we will be trying to do for the rest of the weekend."

“The team told me that they had learnt more in just one day than they had during the whole of the first half of the season. So that is good to know.”
