Renger pulls sixth place out of the Masters fire

Renger van der Zande fought for all he was worth in the Tango Masters of Formula 3 in Zandvoort. The Hitech driver started from ninth place and ultimately succeeded in advancing to sixth place, making him the best-classified British Formula 3 driver in this prestigious competition.

It actually went really well,” said Renger. “I had a reasonably good start, but I was forced onto the grass, which cost me a place instead of gaining me one. After that I was able to regain one position, and then I waited until the drivers in front of me were wrapped up in their own battle – it was pretty vicious at times! My patience was rewarded, because Henki Waldschmidt and Jean-Karl Vernay went off the track together, which allowed me to gain another two places and ultimately finish as sixth. I drove the entire race at the limit, so this was the maximum I could hope to achieve.”

Renger’s next race is this coming weekend in Silverstone. He will race there in the Porsche Supercup.
