Renger van der Zande’s speed causes tension

Renger van der Zande is currently the fastest man in the British Formula 3 Championship, and the competition doesn’t like it – which was painfully clear at Rockingham, where Renger was driven off the track in the first lap of both races.

"I'm really fed up with this", he said. "I got off to the best start in the first race, and was in the lead when Daniel Ricciardo came up behind me and knocked off my rear wing. I was able to get a new wing in the pits, but I was many laps behind. I still drove the fastest lap with a damaged car – so, obviously, once again I was going very fast."

"In the second race I was driven off the track by Nick Tandy, but that really was an accident. He was hit as well, and he slid into my flank. I slammed into the tyres and the race was over. This really is a shame: I’m simply the fastest in the field – everyone says so, and I prove it every time – but with actions like this, we’re not getting any results."

"Next week we’ll be racing at Hockenheim, a circuit I know like the back of my hand from my time in the Formula 3 Euroseries. I hope I’ll be able to get my revenge there: in any case, it would be justice."
