“It’s going to be brilliant to race these cars”

“I just took a walk around the track and it looks fantastic,” Renger says. “You can tell it’s a desert track because there are people busily blowing the sand off the track. I’m really looking forward to the weekend and I’ll be going into the weekend with my eyes wide open. There are a few guys who know the track well, but I’m not going to concern myself with that. I’m going to prepare for the weekend in my own way, and then trust that we can impress a few people.

“This is going to be my debut in this class and I think it’s going to be brilliant to race these cars. It’s a new phase in my career and I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve already tested twice for Trust Team Arden and working with the team went extremely well. They’re great guys, and all absolute professionals. I’m having a great time and I hope that I have a few good races this weekend.”

Unlike other races in the GP2 Asia Series, the race weekend in Dubai kicks off with training and qualifying rounds on Thursday, followed by races on Friday and Saturday. The races will be aired live on Eurosport 2. The race on Friday starts at 10:10 a.m. Dutch time, and on Saturday the green light flashes at 10:00 a.m. Dutch time.
