Renger in good form on first day at Macau

Renger van der Zande has made an excellent start to his final Formula 3 weekend. On the narrow streets of Macau, the Prema driver made it clear that he would be one to watch this weekend by finishing among the highest ranked in the training rounds and in the first qualifying round. Renger ranked second in the training rounds and fifth in the first qualification round and expects even more fireworks at the decisive qualifying session on Saturday.

“This is just brilliant,” he said with a smile. “The track in Macau is unique. It’s so incredibly fast here, even in your outlap, and you just skim past the walls. A track like this one probably couldn't be built any more in Europe, but here it still can. It's just fantastic. The two sessions went really well, even though we mostly ran on used tyres. That means that we now have a fresh set to use tomorrow in the decisive qualifying round. The field is getting faster and faster, so tomorrow really will be the decider. For now, things are looking very good.

“This is my last Formula 3 race, and I'm having a wonderful time. I’m enjoying every moment."
