Renger falls prey to bad luck again Saturday

According to one of the best known of Murphy’s Laws, “Everything that can go wrong will go wrong.” Sadly, this law certainly held true for Renger van der Zande this weekend. After a timing error in the qualification and a penalty of five starting positions, his engine stalled and his right-rear tyre later went flat during the first race in Le Mans. Renger is disappointed but keeps his head held high.

“Unbelievable!” was Renger’s response. “The motor stalled at the start, so I didn’t have a chance the rest of the race. I carried off a few nice overtaking manoeuvres, but at a certain point my right-rear tyre went flat and my ability to fight my way forward was all but gone. It’s certainly frustrating, but we just have to accept it. Tomorrow I’m going to give it my best again and we’ll see how it goes.”
