Renger gets a podium position at Brands Hatch

After a splendid third place in the race on Sunday at Brands Hatch, Renger van der Zande is now in third place in the championship. The Prema Powerteam driver also started from third position on the grid and managed to keep a cool head around the short circuit in England. In a race where the Volkswagen drivers ran the show, Renger was the best Mercedes driver and demonstrated once again his racing skills.

“This is excellent", Renger laughed after the race had finished. “My start was good and I was immediately able to catch up with Vernay, who started from pole position. However, Mallieux, who started from second on the grid, started even better and took the lead, so I remained in third place. The race was as good as over from that point on. Every time I got close to Vernay, I hit a kind of invisible wall, which resulted in me losing downforce.

I’m now in third place in the championship and I’m very happy with that. If you look at how the season has progressed, I’ve been constantly quicker than my teammates and we are doing very well as a team. Hopefully, we can continue the good work in the next race in Barcelona.”

The weekend of 20th-21st September, the Formula 3 Euro Series will be in the Catalan city.
