‘In the Masters, only victory counts’
This weekend, at the Zolder circuit in Belgium, the RTL GP Masters of Formula Three will be run. It is the most important Formula 3 race of the year, because the best European drivers and teams will meet to challenge one another. Renger van der Zande will participate in this spectacle for the second time and hopes to follow in the footsteps of Jos Verstappen and Tom Coronel to become the third Dutchman to win this exceptional event.

“As a young boy I watched the Masters of Formula Three as if it was a Formula 1 race – it was that exciting,” said Renger. “The best drivers and the best teams from throughout Europe come together to decide among themselves who the fastest is, and to now be among the drivers is naturally an incredible experience. If you look at the winners of the Masters, you see it's a petty impressive group. Many of the winners have raced in the Formula One or still do, and I would be more than happy to see my name among theirs.”
“Last year I was here too and the atmosphere was fantastic. We are the main attraction and that really gives an extra kick. Throughout the weekend you're really working toward a climax and in combination with the huge crowds in the stands there's a real 'Masters feeling' in the air. So this is the second time I'm racing in the Masters, and now we should truly have a chance of achieving victory. Reaching the podium is certainly nice, but in the Masters only one place counts: the highest step. I believe we have a good chance to win, so I'm really looking forward to it.”
