Failed mechanics prevents good result in race 2

The second race at the Nürburgring will be one that Renger van der Zande will quickly want to forget. Fourth place on the grid looked promising, but the clutch failed at the start and Renger didn’t get away from his position. After a few laps at the back, the team called him in for safety reasons as they were afraid that something was wrong with car.

“Shit happens”, Renger began. “It’s a real shame of course, but that’s part of racing. It seems that the clutch was too hot at the start, but we’re not sure of that. We’ve got to carefully investigate where the problem lies because we certainly don’t want this to happen again. I drove a few laps, but after that the team called me in for safety reasons. The only consolation prize is that the Nico Hulkenberg was the only one of the title contenders to score any points. I haven’t fallen behind, but I haven’t closed in. It’s one of the few times that I haven’t scored any points – let’s hope it’s the last time.”

“We can’t be satisfied with the way things have gone this weekend. We certainly took a great step forwards with the qualification, but we’re still not where we should be. The team and I are now going to work rigorously to solve this problem, and I have every faith that it will turn out well. I’m now going to the Prema factory in Italy, and we’re going to work hard so that in the next race we can perform right from the start of the weekend.”
