Renger happy with seventh place on the grid at the Nürburgring

During the run up to the Nürburgring weekend, Renger van der Zande said that the most important thing was to improve his qualification, and that he did. The Mercedes junior drove to a fine seventh place on the track in the Eifel region of Germany, giving him a good chance to earn points in the races on Saturday and Sunday.

“This is certainly a better start to the weekend”, Renger began. “Let’s hope that this marks the beginning of a series of good qualifications for the coming races. The drivers were so close to each other and so achieving seventh place is ok. Of course I’d have preferred to be further forward, but from this position on the grid, I think we’ve got a great chance for two excellent races. Rain is forecast for tomorrow, but as far as I’m concerned it will stay dry. If it does, I think that finishing in the top five is a real possibility. Hopefully I’ll get off to a cracking start and can build from there.”
