Renger overtakes thirteen other drivers in the first race at the Norisring
Prior to the race on Saturday, Renger van der Zande hoped that the ‘Renger steam train’ would make an appearance. And that wish did not go unheard. Starting from 23rd position, he overtook nine drivers on just the first lap and eventually finished in tenth place. In total, he managed to overtake thirteen other drivers. It was a great performance and one which Renger was also extremely pleased with.

“We managed to put things right”, he said after the race. “This race was a combination of trying to overtake as many other cars as possible, whilst making sure the car came home safely. We managed to achieve both of those objectives. This weekend, it seems as if we are a day behind the fastest drivers in tuning the car, but that did not stop me from being able to attack today. The first lap was particularly good. I think I managed to overtake six drivers at one corner. I was cleverer than the rest and took the inside line!”
“Tomorrow, I will start from tenth place and, as I have shown today, nothing has been lost yet. I have a good feeling about this race and hopefully tomorrow we will be able to surprise a few more people.”
