Technology robs Renger of possible podium finish

Fourth on the starting grid and an excellent chance of a place on the podium. The second race in Mugello promised a lot for Renger. However, things started to go wrong even before the race had started. A technical problem resulted in the car not wanting to start on the grid, so that Renger had to begin from the pit lane.

Despite all of the problems he faced, he gave it his all and was faster than the leaders, but the Mercedes Junior driver could not manage better than 20th position. “This is really bad”, sighed Renger. “The battery broke on the pre-grid, but it was quickly changed. I was then driving towards the pits after the warm-up lap and the battery gave up again. I was pushed back to the pits and also had to start from the pit lane. That meant that I started the race behind everybody else. I did not give up and managed to overtake five or six other drivers, but I was not able to gain any points.”

“This cost me some valuable points. It was simply a mistake that the team made and is something that should not happen if you're hoping to challenge for the championship. Let's hope this is the only time this season that I run into so much bad luck. I'm already thinking about the race in Pau, so let's leave this disappointment behind us.”
