Solid fourth place for Renger in qualifying at Mugello

After the disappointment of qualifying at Hockenheim, Renger decided to do well from the very beginning at Mugello. And he kept to his word. A good fourth place in qualifying gave him an excellent starting position for Saturday's race. The objective is to get points from both races and there is a real possibility of that after today.

“We can't complain”, he said. “It was exciting, because the asphalt at Mugello is very aggressive. That means that you start to lose grip after two laps with new tyres and then you are no longer able to drive as fast as you should. We made three runs and we knew the third run had to be the fastest. I was in first place after my second run, but unfortunately, I was not able to hold on to that position. The third run was my fastest and things went really well. I could have maybe gone a tenth of a second faster, but not much more.”

“After qualifying, we discovered where we could have got even more out of the car, so we hope that we can do even better tomorrow. During the race, how the spoiler is set-up will be very important. Mugello has a very long straight and if you do not have too much downforce, you should be able to overtake. However, you are disadvantaged on the rest of the circuit. It promises to be very interesting. I hope to finish in the top three. That would make me very happy.”
