Van der Zande fourteenth on grid at Norisring

At the ultra-short Norisring in Nuremburg, Renger van der Zande has qualified in fourteenth position. The Mercedes driver had already predicted a tightly-packed field and this proved to be correct, as the Dutchman missed the top ten by just one tenth of a second.“Fourteenth is not what I hoped for,” said van der Zande. “It really is incredibly close. The speed is there, but I couldn’t get all sectors together for the single lap. Only a tenth was needed, but that was that. If I had managed the top ten I think I could have reached eighth. Anyway, here we are and we just have to be happy with what we have. Some changeable weather tomorrow could play to my advantage.”
